About The Grand Theatre

The Grand Theatre stands as Western Canada's oldest continuously operating theatre at 631 Grand Avenue in Indian Head, built in 1904 as the Indian Head Opera House by Arthur James Osment using bricks made by a prominent Métis family from the Qu'Appelle Valley. This historic single-screen venue with deep red walls, ceiling and seating offers intimate viewing experiences for modern blockbusters, live performances, and community events. Community-owned since 2014 by volunteer organization Indian Head Theatre & Community Arts Inc., the theatre underwent major roof restoration and currently seeks accessibility improvements. Located 70 kilometers east of Regina with population 1,902, the Grand serves as an economic driver and cultural hub hosting school drama productions and regional tourists.
