About Majestic Theatre

The Majestic Theatre stands as a historic landmark in downtown Biggar, operating since 1911 with major expansions in 1916 and 1929. After closing in 1986, the non-profit Biggar and District Theatre Project restored and reopened the venue in 1995 with modern amenities including meeting rooms and a commercial kitchen. Today this single-screen community cinema screens new movie releases while hosting live theatre, Arts Council presentations, music festivals, dance recitals, and school programs. With 600 seats, full concessions featuring popcorn and snacks, and reasonable admission prices, the Majestic serves Biggar's population of 2,133 with family-friendly entertainment in a beautifully preserved historic setting.
